I'm Aygul Akhmadullina — a Tatar woman, a mom, and someone building a home away from home, one t-shirt at a time.
I love being Tatar. I love the warmth of our people, the rhythm of our language, the jokes that only land right in Tatar. Building a life in the US hasn't changed that — if anything, it's made me want to hold onto it even more closely, and pass it on fully to my son. I want him to grow up proud of who he is, fluent in our language, rooted in our humor and our history, no matter where in the world he calls home.
This project is my way of celebrating that — for my family, and for anyone else who carries the same love for where they come from.
What I believe in:
- Language is identity. Every witty phrase on these shirts is a small act of preservation — keeping Tatar alive in everyday life, not just in textbooks.
- Community across distance. Whether you're in Kazan, Chicago, or anywhere in between, wearing something that makes another Tatar smile in recognition is its own kind of homecoming.
- Joy and humor over nostalgia alone. This isn't about longing — it's about laughing, connecting, and living actively and fully as who we are.
